Health & Safety Investment
Over the last few months GBN has seen no less than seven staff members attend health and safety courses.
“When it comes to health and safety, we’re continuingly investing in our staff. We want to ensure that all the right people have all the necessary qualifications, at the right level”, explains David Wolfenden Group H&S Manager.
All managers and directors are now IOSH trained for managing safety. The latest mangers to pass in early November included (pictured left to right): Steve Caley – Harlow Depot Manager, Dave Brown – Transport and site Manager at Leyton and John Golding – Depot Manager at Rochford. Karen Smith – Business development manager also passed.
Mike Geach (Basildon) and Richard Lawrence (Uxbridge) have embarked on the renewal of their WAMITAB certificate of technical competence, as well as the young apprentice Kirk Straight, having attended the one-day IOSH workplace safety course.
David goes on to explain: “The waste and recycling sector is a harsh environment, and with so much working machinery and vehicles, we need to ensure that we are making the upmost effort to avoid the risk for accidents, as best we possibly can.”
