Staff Profile: Ashley Kavanagh
As part of GBN’s administration team, Ashley Kavanagh is responsible for handling customer purchase orders ensuring they reach the correct depots in London and the South East of England.
Drawing on six years within the waste sector, it is her job to deliver five star customer service by resolving any issues that may arise quickly and efficiently. “My position involves dealing with purchase orders via GBN’s in-house computer and e-mail systems as well as managing skip licenses taking out by clients,” she comments. “If their license is about to expire, I’ll issue out a notice informing them of when it’s due for renewal whilst allowing an appropriate timeframe to do so.”
Prior to her appointment, Ms Kavanagh was a Horse Riding Instructor before being headhunted by GBN in 2012. The career change has helped her acquire new skills primarily within computer programs and software including Excel spreadsheets, which play a vital role in her day-to-day duties. In addition, it has allowed her to build up strong and positive working relationships with GBN’s depot managers.
When asked what she enjoys most about her job at GBN, Ms Kavanagh said: “I love a challenge and problem solving. It’s also great meeting and working with new people in this industry.” She added. “When I first started at GBN, I mostly worked on my own initiative where I quickly picked up the knowledge and know-how for GBN’s skip hire and waste management processes.”
Based at GBN’s Leyton office, Ms Kavanagh looks forward to continuing her career progression to hopefully secure a management position in the not so distant future. She comments: “I see myself at GBN for the long term and would like to become a Commercial Manager one day by continuing my hard work and going above and beyond customer expectations.”
