GBN’s Commitment to improve road safety in London
GBN Services Ltd is fully committed to ensuring the utmost safety on our customers’ sites and on London’s roads. We already have a fleet of 30 Crossrail compliant vehicles which are fitted with safety devices including blind spot proximity sensors, under-run guards and warning alerts for cyclists. Our policy is to ensure all future vehicles are specified to Crossrail standard and in September we added another 5 to our fleet, to include skip vehicles, dustcarts and roll on/roll off vehicles.
As per our Fleet Operators Recognition Scheme (FORS) accreditation, all of our remaining vehicles will be fitted with side underrun protection and class V1 mirrors to increase the safety for cyclists and other vulnerable road users.
In addition to our vehicles around half of our drivers have attended Crossrail training. Over 95% of drivers have CSCS cards and all of our drivers are annually assessed on their driving and operating skills for the type of vehicle they use.
