GBN sponsors Hout Bay football teams
GBN Services has agreed to sponsor two football teams in Hout Bay, South Africa.
As part of the partnership, the ‘Kalouwa’ and ‘Hout Bay Gunners’ teams have received new football kits, sporting the GBN livery.
GBN’s CEO has a strong connection with Hout Bay after building a house there over 14 years ago and making frequent trips every three to four months. During his visit, he made friends with the locals and brought a dozen footballs for the children’s coaches to give away.
He said: “I visit the local hardware store regularly during my stays and I have a little friend who works there called Ninety Nine.
“On my last visit, he talked me into going down to watch them play football and that’s when I agreed to sponsor the team for GBN. “ He continued. “I met Fatin, who was the manager for another team, and was disappointed they were not sponsored, so I agreed to sponsor his team from William Thompson Homes, ‘Hout Bay Gunners.’”
Both teams play for the Hout Bay League ageing between 15 and 33. The league contains a total of 22 teams with one football pitch between them.
Our CEO’s son Grant Thompson has also got involved with his father’s work by taking part in football matches with them, following his last trip to South Africa.
Both of them look forward to continuing their support for the teams and their local community in the months to come.
