GBN in the Community

GBN are proud sponsors of the Great Wakering Colts Girls U14 Football Team. Based near Southend on Sea in Essex the Colts team are part of the semi-professional club, Great Wakering Rovers.

The team are newly formed this year with 17 players in the squad and they play in the Essex County Girls, Division B League. They’ve got off to a great start, and after three matches were unbeaten and lie third in the table.

“The girls are very passionate about sport and they thrive from playing football together. As you would expect, they are a very social and a friendly team, whilst being a very well behaved and lovely group of players,” explains Claire Sweeting, Development Officer.

She added: “The girls are very proud to represent GBN, with the company logo printed on the home and away kits. We hope to do them proud and win either the league or cup this season, so watch this space!”

Bright turnout for the Finsbury Park Race for Life

As the weather was beautiful for this year’s Finsbury Park, Race for Life run, there was a record turnout, and GBN played their part in raising £80,000 for Cancer research. The GBN girls (L-R) Corrine (first left) Hailey (centre) and Karen (far right) along with friends Keeley and Abi raised over £1,500 for their efforts.

“We’ve all had a great day, particularly as the weather was so beautiful. It’s fun running as a team and on a personal note, I was really pleased with my time, and it gives me something to work on for next year. And it would be great to get even more of the GBN team involved next year,” said Karen Smith.
